Easy Wi-Fi Set-Up Makes Getting Started
with Your Kobo eReader Simple

August 27, 2012 -  Kobo Inc. a global leader in eReading with more than 10 million registered users and a subsidiary of Rakuten Inc., today announced the availability of a new model of the Kobo Touch eReader in Japan that includes a new Wi-Fi Easy Set-Up function. Wi-Fi Easy Set-Up allows the Kobo Touch eReader to be initialized easily on its own without a PC through a Wi-Fi connection and is available first in the Japan market before any other country.

 

Devices purchased after 9:00am on August 27 will include the Wi-Fi Easy Set-Up function and a new simplified manual. In addition, Kobo has established additional customer support resources including an exclusive customer support site to provide additional information and tools including a step-by-step video on the set-up procedure.

 

The Kobo Customer Care center will continue to provide support by both phone and e-mail for 24 hours after purchase.

 

For those that purchased a kobo Touch eReader before 9:00am on August 27 and have not yet initialized the device, a free upgrade to include the WiFi Easy Set-Up function is available by visiting the Free Update website and completing the appropriate process.

(1)     About the new fanction, “Wi-Fi Easy Set-Up”

 
To initialize                         kobo Touch

                                             The name of the Wi-Fi network you will be using

                                             The password for the Wi-Fi network you will be using

                                             Rakuten member ID and password

                                             (1)   Turn on the device and select Japanese

                                          (2)   Select set-up via Wi-Fi

                                          (3)   Select the name of the network you wish to use (enter password when necessary)

                                          (4)   Log-on using your Rakuten member ID

                                             (5)   Set-up begins automatically and initialization is complete

Service Details
Those who complete their applications by the deadline and send in their “kobo  Touch” with their application forms to the designated address will have the latest software installed for free, allowing them to set up their devices using Wi-Fi.

People who purchased a “kobo Touch” before 9:00am on Monday, August 27, and have not yet set it up (initialized it).

(1) Pack into a Box

Print out the application form and pack it into the box with the “kobo Touch.”

(2)Delivery

Send it to the designated address using Yamato Transport with “payment of postage upon delivery.”
