More Compatible Devices for Raku Pack
Smartphone Compatibility for the First
Time for Dynamic Packages

Rakuten Travel, Inc. (“Rakuten Travel,” President and CEO: Masashi Oakatake, Head Office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo), which operates Japan’s largest comprehensive travel website “Rakuten Travel,” will gradually increase the number of devices compatible with its domestic travel product, the dynamic package “Raku Pack (air tickets + accommodations),” in time for the summer holiday season.

First, starting Monday, June 6th, a mobile website (for feature phones) called the JAL Raku Pack Mobile (URL: http://m.dp.travel.rakuten.co.jp/jal/) was launched for the dynamic package product, JAL Raku Pack, which offers a combination of JAL domestic air tickets and accommodations.

Following that, there are plans to introduce systems that optimize computer website displays and interfaces for iPhone and Android smartphones for JAL Raku Pack at the end of June, and for ANA Raku Pack (domestic) at the beginning of July (the latter offers a combination of ANA domestic air tickets and accommodations). It is the first time that websites for dynamic packages for domestic air tickets will be optimized for smartphones.

Website optimization will focus on the search function for tours based on departure and return dates—the function most frequently used by customers. Much work is being put into optimizing the screen display for this function for feature phones and smartphones. In addition, users will be able to browse all Raku Pack products, and to conduct a range of processes from search to reservation at the one-stop service portal. Users will also be able to check or cancel reservations made on their computers via their feature phones or smartphones.

In the future, Rakuten Travel will continue to promote the use of services via mobile phones and smartphones, which are experiencing significant growth in the field of accommodations and air ticket reservations. The company will also continue to put its best efforts into enhancing service functions for Raku Pack (air tickets + accommodations).

JAL Raku Pack is a domestic dynamic package product that allows customers to freely combine bookings for approximately 800 JAL domestic flights daily with approximately 20,000 domestic accommodations available online under Rakuten Travel. It commenced service on September 1st last year, and on February 15th, 2011, added a function that allows customers to freely combine their reservation package with car rental services all around Japan. This serves to enhance convenience in transportation and movement for its customers. Customers that complete reservations through their mobile phones or smartphones receive 1% Rakuten Super Points as well as 50% of the JAL base mileage for the flight segment.

● ANA Raku Pack (air tickets + accommodations)
ANA Raku Pack is an original package product that allows customers to search for and make reservations at one go, from among approximately 900 ANA domestic flights daily with approximately 20,000 domestic accommodations available online under Rakuten Travel. It commenced service on October 24th, 2006, and on July 1st, 2008, added a function that allows customers to freely combine their reservation package with car rental services all around Japan. This serves to enhance convenience in transportation and movement for its customers. It launched the ANA Raku Pack Mobile for feature phones on November 9th, 2009. Thereafter, it continued to welcome many users, and achieved an accumulated total of 1 million users by December 2010. Customers that complete reservations through their mobile phones or smartphones receive 1% Rakuten Super Points as well as 50% of the ANA base mileage for the flight segment.
